Warranty Limitations

Repair, replacement or adjustment under the Subaru STI Sports Parts Warranty is not available for deterioration, defect, fault or failure of an "STI Sports Part" due to:

  • Ordinary wear and tear.
  • Wear and tear caused by use of the vehicle for a purpose or under road or climatic conditions other than for which it was designed, for example, use in motor sports events (including racing, rallying, speed trialing, hill climbing or similar activities or competitive events).
  • Driver negligence, misuse or abuse, eg, tampering, disconnection, loading or towing beyond the manufacturer's specifications, or continuing to drive the vehicle after loss of fluids, lubricants, oils, coolants, refrigerants or water.

  • Modifications or alterations which have not been approved by the manufacturer, or the installation or use of non-genuine parts, accessories, equipment, assemblies or components.
  • A failure to have the vehicle serviced in strict accordance with the manufacturer's specifications and recommendations, or a failure to have the vehicle repaired promptly in accordance with such recommendations following an accident or other damage, or after a defect becomes known or is suspected.

  • Any work carried out on the vehicle by a person other than an authorised Subaru STI dealer.

  • Environmental conditions, including acid rain, industrial fall-out, salt, sand, stones, tree sap, bark or leaves, bird, animal or insect droppings or other damage, windstorm, hail, flood, lightening, or other acts of God.

Your Rights and Remedies as a Consumer

The Subaru STI Sports Parts Warranty is in addition to the rights and remedies conferred on consumers by the Trade Practices Act and other applicable Commonwealth, State and Territory legislation. The Warranty does not affect those rights or remedies, except to the extent that their application may lawfully be excluded.

Any consequential, direct or incidental loss or damage is not covered by the Warranty. Any statutory or other rights or remedies available in connection with a claim for such loss or damage should be pursued separately.

* This Warranty only covers "STI Sports Parts", which are supplied for road use only. Genuine "STI Race Parts", which are supplied solely for race, rallying and other motor sport purposes, are not covered by this STI Sports Parts Warranty.

"STI Race Parts" should only be installed on vehicles intended solely for use in motor sports, and are not suitable for regular road use. Installation of "STI Race Parts" may cause the vehicle to become non-ADR compliant. Customers should note that vehicle deterioration, defect, fault or failure caused due to its use in motor sports events (including racing, rallying, speed trialing, hill climbing or similar activities or competitive events) is not covered under the Subaru New Vehicle Warranty.

Your Subaru STI dealer can advise as to the suitability for use of any genuine STI part and whether it is covered by warranty. Where a part is suitable only for motor sport use and is not covered by this STI Sports Parts Warranty, the customer may otherwise have rights and remedies conferred by the Trade Practices Act and other applicable Commonwealth, State and Territory legislation
